Anglesey Abbey News
Hello, all. We've some lovely and interesting events coming up which I hope
our neighbours will be able to enjoy. Also, Mothering Sunday will soon be upon
us and we're saying, 'don't leave it too late to plan for this very
special day!'
"We should do it every day - but many of us only remember to do it once a year -make our mother feel special!
Most mothers love flowers, most love gardens, and many love traditional afternoon tea so Anglesey Abbey offers the perfect place to treat mothers and grandmothers on Mothering Sunday. Spring will be in the air with bright flowers everywhere, and trees bursting into leaf - just what you need to lift the spirits after a long winter.
This year, our light-filled Redwoods restaurant will be offering afternoon tea and a selection of gorgeous home-made cakes from 12noon through til 4.30pm. For those who want a little more, self-serve lunches will be available. This year we've broken with tradition and you don't need to book in advance. If the weather is mild, you can sit out on the deck with views of the Pinetum. You can make your special visit even longer if you call at the house with all its treasures, and pop along to Lode Mill. Spot the water wheel turning the gears, or the flour pouring down into sacks -ready to go to the restaurant to be made into scones (though we do save some in bags so you can buy a souvenir). And, as usual, our Plant Centre will be full of varieties grown here, as well as gardening gifts. All in all, a great way to treat mothers on their special day." Sunday 3rd April.
