Prospects Trust Help Heroes in Fundraiser
Co-workers of the Prospects Trust raise over £150 on tombola in aid of "Help For Heroes" . On Friday 4 June 2010, a group of co-workers (people with learning difficulties, mental ill health and disabilities) ran a tombola at a Ditchburn Place's fete.
As part of an exciting new Big Lottery Funded project "Reaching for Better Chances" Co-workers at Prospects Trust are learning to overcome specific barriers and trying new things.
Ros Puddefoot, Project Co-Ordinator and Co-Manager said "The idea for a charity fundraiser to benefit others came directly from the Co-workers themselves and the day was a huge success" .
The Co-workers worked as a team to gather the prizes, stick the tickets on the prizes, and fold the tickets. On arrival at Ditchburn Place, they set out all the prizes and put the tickets into the drum. They all loved spinning the drum. The stall had quite a lot of customers- some were lucky and won a prize and others were not so lucky but didn't seem to mind as they said it was for a good cause.
The Prospects Trust, a social enterprise and 18 acre organic market garden, based in Reach, Cambridgeshire provides opportunities for people with learning difficulties to improve and develop their skills, so that they can lead more independent lives.
Jill Frost, Employment Co-ordinator and Co-Manager for The Trust said: "we were really happy to support our Co-workers in their ambitions to fundraise for other worthy causes. As a small charity ourselves, we know just how important donations are and how even small amounts can make a big difference to people's lives" .
Pip, Trevor, Michael and Linda , Co-Workers at the Prospects Trust said: "It was a very hot and busy day but we are looking forward to doing it again. We would like to thank everyone who supported us and to Ditchburn Place for their help, hospitality and tasty barbeque" .
