The Anglesey Group Mothers' Union

Our Mother's Union Group held its beginning of year Holy Communion Service on Thursday 21st January. It was good to have this Service in Lode Chapel where all our other meetings are held. Revd. David Lewis officiated at the Service and we shared communion, fellowship and real friendship all in the warm relaxed atmos-phere of the Chapel and also enjoyed having new people in our midst. It was a spe-cial time of "being together" followed by a very welcome tea! Our new year was well and truly off to a good start and we looked forward to a varied and interesting Programme for 2010.

We were not disappointed when in February Carol Faulkner came to talk to us about "Story Sacks" . As an ex Headteacher Carol told us all about the use of Story Sacks in Primary Schools. It was a fascinating afternoon as not only did she tell us about Story Sacks but brought some along with her and also involved some of us in the enactment of the stories! Each sack contained a story book plus beautifully made toys representing the characters in the book. As Carol read the story, so some of our braver members made each toy "act" the part. It was not only entertaining, but really gave us an insight into the value of the sacks which are widely used in schools.

Before Carol spoke to us we enrolled three new members into the Mothers' Union during our Opening Worship and I am delighted to say that our membership now stands at 35.

Even if you are not a member please come along to our meetings, especially if the subject for the month is of particular interest to you. Everyone is very welcome. Programme Cards for 2010 can be found in each of our 5 Churches - please help yourselves!

Our next meeting is on Thursday 15th April at 2.30pm in Lode Chapel when we will be hearing about the Cambridgeshire Bobby Scheme.
