Book it in your diary now
The four book clubs in Lode are getting together to host the Lode BookFest at Lode Social Club and the Fassage Hall on Saturday and Sunday 20/21 November. We are delighted that thriller writer and historical novelist Mike Ripley will be talking about his work and answering your questions on Sunday 21 at 2pm. Come along for a fascinating afternoon with an author who, among other accolades, has been described as 'England's funniest crime writer'(The Times). Everyone welcome but if you are part of a book club why not make one his latest works your choice for November. The Legend of Hereward" (Severn House paperback) is set in the Fens and specifically mentions Reach and Burwell. Or try Angel's Share (Allison & Busby) his latest in the Angel series of comedy thrillers. See more about Mike Ripley on www.thatangellook.co.uk and www.shotsmag.co.uk where he has a 'gossip'column on Getting Away with Murder.
Other attractions during the weekend are Storytelling Activities for 0-5s, a story illustrating workshop for 5-11 year olds, a children's writing competition, bookstalls including secondhand craft books at the Craft Fair on Saturday afternoon at the Social Club, and a film night on Saturday.
