Editorial
READERS MAY HAVE NOTICED that competition from our fellow magazines along the
Spring Line might have hotted up recently, with the excellent Bulbeck Beacon
and stunning Within Reach now rivalling Time Magazine. But one thing other
magazines are going to find it difficult to measure up on is the Crier
crossword.
This will certainly surpass Time Magazine's (they don't do cryptic in the US). Crossword manager Robin Scovill has been ill recently, but we're very glad to say he is now on the mend. We'd like to wish him all the very best for a speedy recovery.
Despite the Crier's gloomy prognostications, if not to say out right condemnation, we have to admit (spit it out, spit it out!) that St Cyriac's modifications look quite nice really! The revamped building greatly contributed to the success of our recent German visit masterminded by Ober Planner Dee Noyes (many congratulations Dee!) and where we hear there are already return visits to Germany planned.
The Dog Show was a great success, with all dogs immaculately behaved save one, it not being difficult to discern which one (see page 10). Hmmm. Meanwhile, Our Reporter makes interesting reading for their walkers this month. PC Chaitrman John Covill has spotted as Osprey, so now we can all try our hand at Osprey -spotting (big bird, should look like picture below), and there are some well-justified comments about the Station Road footpath. Yes, it may very well be that there are no visible footprints along the effectively still blocked portion, closer examination would reveal paw-prints, the other half of the partnership having bailed out over the 5- barred gate.
Finatralaally, at last! Our own Choir!! Richard Hinitt will be Choir Master and I myself will give it one go at least- surely there are lots of tunes arranged for the lowish voice with a range of let's say three notes?
