Groceries delivered to Cambridgeshire's Elderly
Elderly people in Swaffham Prior and surrounding areas can have a wide range
of groceries delivered along with their home meals this winter, thanks to a
service from local company Oakhouse Foods.
Customers in need of essential groceries from teabags to toilet rolls can have these added to their order to be delivered with their regular frozen food order from Oakhouse Foods. There is no charge for delivery and no internet access required, amajor stumbling block to home shopping for many elderly people.
Director Michele Tattersall said, "A packet of tea or a tin of beans can mean a lot when you have run out and can't get to the shops. The aim of this service is to provide the basic shopping that customers can't get out to buy for themselves. It makes sense as we are already delivering meals and desserts to these people on a weekly basis and from a customer perspective their regular Oakhouse Foods driver is a familiar face. Our service also provides for those elderly people outside of the care system who needhelp with shopping but don't necessarily have access to the internet."
