I have now been on the beat area for about 4 months. Over that time we made one of the biggest drugs seizures of Cannabis resin in over 5 years in the Cambridge area. The East Cambridgeshire neighbourhood team currently has a crime detection rate of 26.8% which is 2.8% up on 2008, with around 250 fewer crimes being reported.

I personally have made 68 arrests this year for all manner of offences and have been the first attending officer to over 145 incidents and have been to many more. This may not seem like many but if you put this in the context of my shift pattern, abstractions for force operations, meetings and the amount of paperwork I have to do I can assure you this is a large amount of work.

So what now? As ever we are measured on our performance. As a local team the aim is to prevent crime and when it does occur to try and detect it.The aim for 2010 is 29% of crimes to be detected and a further reduction in total recorded crime. You can help us achieve this. Most of our workcomes from intelligence. Using information provided by you helps us to target specific people and addresses allowing us to work more effectively. So no matter how small a snippet of information you may have it could be the one final piece of the jigsaw we need to get another criminal off the streets. If you have any information you can pass it to us by subscribing to the E-COPS system via our force website or you can contact the Police service centre on 0345 456456 or by calling crime stoppers on 0800 555 111. Thank you for you continued support and have a very happy new year.
