WI Notes

At our May meeting after the usual business we discussed the only resolution which will be voted on at the NFWI AGM at the Royal Albert Hall in June. This resolution - SOS for Honeybees - urges HM Government to increase funding for research into bee health. This is a very important issue that concerns everyone in view of the accelerating decline in the UK honeybee population and it was not surprising that there was unanimous support from our members. We then welcomed Ken Smith from the East Anglian Food Bank who gave us a very interesting talk on how the food bank got started and its role today in distributing donated food to a number of charities involved in preparing meals for the needy. Afterwards we were able to give Ken a large selection of tinned food that members had generously donated to the bank.

On the 15th June our speaker will be Hilary Sugai who will talk to us about Life in Japan.
