The Anglesey Group Mothers' Union
Our Mothers' Union Group had its final Meeting of the year on December
11th. As usual we met in Lode Chapel but at a slightly earlier time, as this
Meeting took the form of a Bring & Share Lunch! It was a lovely way to
"round off" our year with much relaxed fellowship shared in pleasant
cosy surroundings. Some of us brought our husbands to this Lunch and 28 of us
sat down to a very tasty meal, all of which was provided by ourselves. It is
amazing how such a tasty meal can come together in this way and we enjoyed cold
meats, quiches and all sorts of salads, followed by a sumptuous selection of
desserts! We decided that we have some hidden secrets in the form of cooking
talents in our villages!
Wyn Norton was presented with gifts to say thank you for all her dedication and work as Branch Leader for Mothers' Union. For many years she was the Branch Leader of the Swaffham Bulbeck Group and for the last two years she has been Leader of our recently amalgamated group - The Anglesey Group. She felt that after many years of service, she would like to step down from this role. We are very grateful to Wyn for all the work she has done and we presented her with a gift of a pen and Poinsettia plant to show our sincere appreciation.
Our afternoon was ended with some Carol Singing and a short "Thought" from David our Vicar in the form of a story which illustrated perfectly the true meaning of Christmas. We then wished each other "A Merry Christmas" in musical form and made a very joyful noise in Lode Chapel with our singing!
I would like to say thank you to all who came and all those who helped beforehand, as this very pleasant afternoon was a good way to "Set the Scene" for Christmas.
Our next Meeting will be on Thursday 19th February at 2.30pm in Lode Chapel. "Town Pastors in Newmarket" sounds an intriguing subject and we will be learning all about this new scheme. Do come and join us - you will be most welcome!
