February, and the first "genuine" edition of the New Year, January being fake
of course, necessarily going to press before Christmas. And what better way to
shrug off the increasingly outrageous slings and arrows of the Bigger World
than start off than with our very own Prize Literary Quiz?
Turn to our Boxing Day Hockey report, where Tony Bowers has excelled himself with his Odyssey account of our famous victory. At the same time, our What's On section is stuffed with further entertainments: Jason Webster's Tapas & Talk, the Soap Box Challenge, Cath Coombs Singing, Catherine Gould's card school (see Letters) to name but a few. Stuff the credit crunch! We'll get through, we'll get through.. .
Meanwhile, a very Big Thank You to all those who have already helped the Crier weather the storm by their very kind donations, yes, a very big thank-you!
Now, the great thing about living in this village is that all of us make our mark, in one way or another: its the sum of its parts. And in this edition, we celebrate the 87th birthday of Eric Day, erstwhile Parish Clerk and long-time Councillor: Happy Birthday Eric, this village would be a lesser place without you! .
