The Swaffham Crier Online

Moveable Feast 19th September

On a balmy evening 24 people, guided by balloons, found their way to Lord's Ground Farm where they received a warm welcome from Phil and Mandy Kingsmill. Wine and a very attractive tasty starter was enjoyed by all, some making the most of the evening by sitting out-side. We then split into two groups,14 stopping off at Adventurer's Farm, for a scrumptious main course cooked by Janet, whilst James made a very efficient wine waiter. The other 10 proceeded to Underhill and were royally welcomed by Katrina and David Greenfield, where they also enjoyed a super main course

Finally on to Tothill Road, where Jenny Brand welcomed us all for dessert course and coffee, by which time any thoughts of dieting had long been forgotten It was interesting to note that a quarter of the diners had moved out of the village but came back for an opportunity to meet up again with Swaffham Prior friends, comments were heard about now living in dead villages with little community spirit where nothing like this ever happened.

Once again we are truly grateful to Janet Willmott for master minding the evening, liaising with the hostesses and some how managing to get all the diners in the right place at the right time.

All agreed it had been a memorable evening with good food, good wine and good conversations, with a bonus of making a profit of £331 for church expenses Shortly the Social Working Group will be starting to plan 2010 social and fundraising events and would really welcome any ideas which you would like included.
