The Swaffham Crier Online

Editorial

October, and the Crier is back from its holidays ready to join in our latest controversy: The Bridge Over Reach Lode. Most impressively, a computer has already built this bridge, as readers will see on the Letters page, and the reasons why it's a bit on the big side are all carefully explained by the National Trust's Chris Soames.

Personally, I have never understood just why it is that when it comes to building projects of any sort, no expense is to be spared, but when it comes to anything-else, it's quite the opposite. Save of course for essential things like the new Village Infrastructure Plan (hang on, what happened to that previous Plan?) or the Early Years Foundation Stage Plan- yes, you can read all about these in Our Reporter.

Meanwhile, the big news is that the Red Lion is up for sale. Oh rumour, rumour, who's made an offer, who will run our Pub? We'll have to see. A very big welcome to our new Headmistress, Diane Hawkes, who introduces herself in this month's issue, and also to Chris Herring, our local PC, who will be sending a monthly crime report- we hope it's brief!

By contrast, this month's Neighbourhood Panel Report was so lacking in the brevity department that we've censored it - it'll be back in November, shorter. Yes, the Crier requires more précis... .

Goodbye Summer, where did it go? You can refresh their memories with our Summer Playscheme centrespread. See you Halloweening - I'll be the gorilla again!
