Spuds in Buckets - The Reckoning

The Spuds in Buckets competition commenced on 10 March and the challenge is to grow the heaviest yield of potatoes possible from one seed potato in the regulation bucket by the time of the Grand Weigh-in on :

Saturday 13 September.

If your potato plant has survived the rain and wind and - ever the optimist - scorching summer sun, please bring your bucket and all its contents along to be weighed at the Village Hall between 10am and 12noon. Scrupulously honest adjudicators will be there to lift and weigh your potatoes and the winner will be announced at the Village Harvest Show that afternoon. The victor will receive all that is required for a sumptuous roast dinner - to go with their home-grown roast potatoes. (And the lucky winner of the children's competition will receive a "Saturday night supper"goodie bag).

Should your bucket be so laden with spuds that you will have difficulty transporting it to the weigh-in, please contact Janet Willmott and collection will be arranged.

We look forward to seeing you on 13 September for the nail-biting conclusion of this contest!

St Mary's Church is grateful to all those undertaking this challenge - all monies raised will go towards the Maryloo project to build a loo in church.
