Social and Fundraising Events for St Mary's Church

Each event will be published in detail nearer the date, however it might be helpful if new events were explained now so that you know what you are in for!

Potatoes To Be Grown In Buckets

This is a fun way of fundraising. Buckets and potatoes will be available for collection the week beginning 10th March, at a cost of £5 per bucket and potato, they are then taken home and grown by a family or individual and brought to the Village Autumn Show in September, where the grand weighing in ceremony will take place. The winner will be the owner of the bucket with the heaviest yield, who will receive a handsome prize.

14th June Garage Sales In The Village

To save people the trouble of taking their items which they wish to sell to a central point, on this day anyone is invited to have a garage sale, in their garage, drive front lawn etc. However if you feel you live off the beaten track and customers may not find you, Marcia Miller has kindly offered the meadow facing the High Street (opposite No.73, the thatched cottage) for you to drive your car on and have a sort of car boot sale. As with all sales of this type the vendor fixes the price and collects the money. It is suggested that half is given as a donation. We are an honest lot in Swaffham Prior so no problems are envisaged! This is a wonderful way of decluttering your home, so start thinking about it now there could be cash in your attic.

Ideas for fundraising are always welcomed.
