St Mary's Burglars Net Thirty Quid

ON THURSDAY19th July, St Mary's Church was broken into in smash-and-grab style. But after a great deal of smash, a side-door and vestry door were forced, the safe ripped from the wall and its door painstakingly bent back, there was then not a lot of grab: the contents yielded only £34.

Of course, the damage will cost considerably more than that to repair. Very little money is ever left in the church, and the PCC will be reconsidering the wisdom of leaving any at all. Given this event, however, we are now almost certainly on the ne'er-do-well's visiting list.

PLEASE BE VIGILANT. IF YOU SEE ANY SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY AROUND THE CHURCH, RECORD ANY DESCRIPTIONS, NUMBER-PLATES AND CONTACT VERGER ANDREW CAMPS (741018) OR THE POLICE. THERE IS NO BUILDING WORK PLANNED FOR EITHER ST MARY'S OR ST. CYRIAC'S. ANY LADDERS, VANS ETC SHOULD BE REPORTED IMMEDIATELY.
