The Anglesey Group Mother's Union
On Thursday 17th May Steve Watts from Romsey Mill in Cambridge came to talk to our Group. We had the most fascinating and interesting afternoon hearing all about the very worthwhile work that goes on there. Romsey Mill is situated in Hemingford Road (off Mill Road) in Cambridge and was originally a Methodist Chapel. It has been converted and recently refurbished and extended, providing a wonderful facility for the people of that area. The newly refurbished building was actually opened at a special dedication Service led by the Archbishop of York, at the end of May.
Steve, who lives in Kedington, joined the Staff of Romsey Mill in February of this year, and he told us with enthusiasm, of all the work that takes place there. It is primarily concerned with youth work, but also provides all sorts of care and courses for children from difficult home backgrounds, parenting groups, groups for Mums and toddlers, care for children in the transition stage between primary and secondary school, computer courses.. .. .. . the list is endless. It is a Christian organisation and the Staff are dedicated to standing alongside people in Cambridge, reaching out to them and caring for them. Their work is to be commended.
This certainly came across to us when Steve spoke to our group, and we are very grateful indeed that he was able to come and bring the work of Romsey Mill to us. We felt both enlightened and uplifted by his talk and had not realised what marvellous work goes on in our area.
Pauline Miller from Burwell will be coming to our July meeting when we will be learning about the art of "Flower Arranging".
