THAT WAS THE FESTIVAL THAT WAS!
YES, despite the rain, the hiccups and all the rest of it, it was alright on the night. Correspondents, please send us reports or snaps of what you especially enjoyed for next month's August / September Crier, but meanwhile, this month's (regrettably) tardy issue can report this: anyone who attended anything in the last ten days of festivalling (and if you didn't, your loss) will know that it was great: from the superb art-work of some fine local artists in the opening exhibition and Saturday's sell-out Coup de Grass concert through to the magnificent Cambridge Voices grand finale HalleLOOiah Chrous (yes, the money goes to finance St Mary's new loos), with its magical lone gallery trumpet triumphantly ringing out over a packed and thrilled St Cyriac's audience.
Many congratulations to Overlord organiser Tina Jost, who may have aged a bit
this week (see our midfestival snap), and all the performers, contributors and
helpers - we know Tina would particularly like to thank Dee Noyes and Janet
Willmott - who combined to make this week a week to remember and have inspired
us all: in two years time we can do it all again.
Meanwhile, welcome to Lord's Ground Farm manager David Almond who was unanimously elected to our Parish Council this month, apologies for a recently discovered unforeseen bias in our Crosswordwinner selector (the dog: Beamish's owner has won again) and don't forget the Crier holiday - yippee! - any September copy must arrive for the August copy date: July 18th.
Oh, end of rain-delay: back to Wimbledon now!
