The Village Carols

GET your kicks on Route 66? No, get your fun on Route 51! With its new National Cycle Route 51 signs on a post at the front, your Village Hall once more did us proud. Advertised as a Carols event, it often seemed like another Panto', with cubs, scouts and the rest struggling to control an overwhelming instinct to indulge in audience participation, and failing. Everybody did their thing, even with unfamiliar words to JINGLE BELLS, and FIVE GOLD RINGS are still ringing this morning, but --

How is it that only about 60 young and old bodies were able to resist the temptations of TV and enjoy real live fun? On TV there was only EUFA Cup Football (OK. That comes close) or the Royal Variety Pathetics (No chance with a line up of has-beens, and should never have beens - except Ozzy, of course). A few of the real people with us actually made the trip in from outside the village, and a very warm welcome these friends always receive. They rightly rejected virtual reality for the real thing. This was the real thing, and it was great!
