The Swaffham Crier Online

Swaffham Prior's own Restoration Secret

Fosters Mill

Concert

A big thank you to all those who supported our Sail Restoration Appeal launch on the 26th June. We certainly raised the roof in St Cyriac's with over 45 singers and 30 orchestra members making music singing Mozart's Requiem. We raised over £500.00 for the appeal on the night with further donations pledged. We would particularly like to thank the members of the Ladies Circle who provided the choir with much needed refreshments in the Baptist Chapel. With £29,000.00 to go, we need all the help we can get. If you would like to find out how you can help, please do not hesitate to contact us. There will be further events over the coming year, so watch this space!

Past Millers of Swaffham Prior

At The Red Lion, Sunday 15th August from 7.30pm. Do you remember people with the following names? Foster, Frisby, Howard, Galley, Stanton-Miles, Sheldrick, Lee, Danby? The estate of the Foster family who owned the mill from 1896 to 1970 have recently gifted Deed documents dating from 1720 to 1895. Many Swaffham Prior families are mentioned. By kind permission of Dave and Lorraine, these documents will be on display in the Red Lion along with old photos of the mill dating back to around 1895 on the above date. If you are interested in local history, why not come along? If you have similar historic documents - why not bring them along too?

Mill Open

The mill will be open on Sunday 15th August from 2pm to 5.30pm.
