Passion!

On Monday 30 August at 7.30 pm the concert "PASSION!" will be performed in the Lady Chapel of Ely Cathedral. It will be an exploration of The Passion of Christ in Music & Paintings.

Featuring Cambridge Voices and The Orchestra of the Age of Reason, the programme includes highlights from Handel's Messiah, Sir John Taverner's Song of Athene, and the world premiere of Passion. This piece has been specifically created for this concert by Ian de Massini, inspired by the four large-scale paintings hanging in the Lady Chapel by the internationally acclaimed artist Thomas Newbolt. The bold imagery and profusion of colour of the paintings, framed by the luminous stonework of the Lady Chapel, bring to life the ancient legends and the vivid symbolism of the Early Church.

Why don't you indulge in a passionate evening of ancient and modern choral music, rich in undertones, suffused with the mysticism of incense and plainsong.

Last year's concert was a sell-out so please book in advance to ensure your seats. £10/£8 (concessions).

Advance tickets from: ADeC Box Office, Babylon Gallery, Waterside, Ely (01353 616991, www.adec.org.uk) or from Ely Cathedral.
