Village Gardeners
We had two very enjoyable evenings out in June and July . One was to Clare
College gardens, which turned out to be a "do it yourself" tour, as
our guide had seemingly mixed up his diary dates. We were all surprised at what
treasures are hidden away behind the college, between the Cam and Queens Road.
Dr Peter Grubb, following our earlier talk, took us along the Devil's Dyke amongst the profusion of plants and flowers that are there in July. I think we all came away knowing more about the how, why, where and what of plants on this chalk grassland. However it still seems that amongst the groups interested in the Dyke, botanists, archaeologists and conservationists, the sheep are still the happiest!
Our next meeting is in September when we shall be thinking about autumn in the garden.
