Staine Hundred
Fortunately the fog cleared before the Christmas Party though this was not
quite as well attended as the usual meetings. The room was attractively set out
with people sitting round four tables which formed the teams for the quizzes of
20 questions about the Staine Hundred set by Peggy Day and Gill's
Rushworth's intriguing set of old photographs which had to be identified.
The quizzes were enjoyed by all but the same team won both quizzes.
The evening also included readings by Sybil Dobbin and Maureen Rogers, a talk about the tombs in Bottisham Church by Hugh Rogers, and inspection of some unusual old items, ranging from a box for eels to an exquisite needle case shaped like an umbrella. There was plenty of time over the interval to chat and enjoy the generous selection of nibbles and wine. A raffle helped to defray expenses. Robert Hill thanked the committee for all their work they had put into making the evening such a success.
