Editorial
A word for the Kingdom of Reach: regular Crier readers will know we always like to be nice about Reach, and this month's issue is no exception. Reach is having a bit of a rocky ride at the minute because of (a) the recent Church of England divorce from Prior: not good - well, we don't think so, anyway - Reach and Prior have always gone together, the children go to school together, yes, we miss Reach, we want them back! (b) their Parish Council has made a fat donation to found the new Community Broadband - all the Internet beamed from Reach! - but ours hasn't, even though plenty of Prior residents are beaming in at a nifty £20 a month (with the demise of Invisible Networks - see Broadband News - ther'll be even more) and (c) Dave Summers, Editor Supreme of Out of Reach for the last seven years (we can't compete!) is finally hanging up his mouse and they will have a find a New Editor. Crier Eds are full of admiration for Dave and we hope he finds a worthy successor.
A plea for Tennis in this month's issue, wholly supported by those well-known tennis aces, the Eds! Why can't Prior have a tennis court? We can afford it can't we? Is the Sports and Social Club ever going to spend its loot?
And as most of us are aware, the infamous stretch of the M1102 between Burwell and Prior has been a menace this month (see Letters), and we're very glad everyone hurt is on the mend. Residents would be well-advised to remember Motorway Guidelines before joining the Cage Hill slip-road! Don't forget our wonderfully atmospheric Advent by Candlelight needs Mince Pies as well (please!), and our Christmas Market needs donations - get those cupboards clear of last year's unwanted presents while you have the chance. And also, don't forget the Crier's new email address is: the.crier@swaffham-prior.co.uk - it's those dots and hyphens that mess you up!
