Bottisham Players Autumn Production 2003

Bottisham Players' dedication to "Garden" detail

Bottisham player's Autumn production is a comedy by the very popular Alan Ayckbourn called Round and Round the Garden, to be directed by Rosemary Jolley.

This play is the third in the well known Norman Conquests trilogy which describes the events over one weekend seen from the dinning room (in Table Manners) the living room (in Living Together) and the garden as shown in the current production. Although the play will be performed inside the drama studio at Bottisham Village college, our props team have already begun nurturing and growing special pots of weeds to help make the set look more authentically like a neglected garden.

The characters in the play are Annie, who is the younger sister to Reg and Ruth. Annie is the long suffering carer of their elderly Mother. Reg is married to Sarah who likes to think she can organise everyone and Ruth is married to Norman who thinks he can charm any woman. Tom is the vet, who lives next door to Annie and carries a "torch" for her, although he finds it easier to communicate with animals than people!

Disaster strikes one weekend. Annie is organising to have a weekend away by the sea. She has arranged for Sarah and Reg to "look after" mother but when Sarah discovers Annie will not be going alone, she sees to it that the plans get changed! A very funny and classic Ayckbourne comedy.
